Getting to Know Memory Foam Mattresses

Memory Foam

If you have never slept on a memory foam mattress, then you may be curious to learn more about the remarkable benefits that this unique mattress style has to offer. The technology behind the memory foam mattress was actually developed by NASA in the 1960's, when they engineered for the first time a new type of material that is both comfortable and absorbent. Memory foam supports the body by distributing weight based on the location of body heat and pressure. As soon as you lay down, the foam detects your presence and molds to create resistance, however once you stand up again, the mattress returns to its previous state.

Those who have purchased memory foam mattresses did so because the mattresses promote better quality sleep by reducing pain in the muscles and joints. Some researchers even believe that the nature of memory foam makes it the best choice for sleepers who suffer from back pain. To learn more about memory foam mattresses, come visit Mancini's Sleepworld or give us a call today at (800) 641-5337.

Saving Money on Your Mattress Purchase

Save Money online in blue

Is it time for you to say goodbye to your old, worn-down mattress? If you're in the market for a newer, more comfortable model that will help you rest easier each night, then be sure to take a look at the following tips to discover how you can get the best deal on this essential item. Here is a guide to saving money on your mattress purchase:

Choose a Reliable Mattress Dealer

The best first step to take when shopping for a well-priced mattress is to research local mattress stores in your area. Look for a mattress dealer that offers great deals and promotions throughout the year, as well as a low price guarantee. Be sure to also ask about any hidden costs for services like delivery or removal of your old mattress.

Be Open to Many Different Brands

Another important tip to take to heart when trying to save money on a mattress is to keep an open mind when it comes to brands. Many companies use marketing tricks to try and justify higher prices, when in reality they may offer a product that is just as good as that of a less expensive brand name. As any mattress expert will share, price does not always reflect quality.

Make the Best Long-Term Investment

When it comes down to it, your mattress purchase could be one that will either improve or diminish your sleep quality for years to come. Remember that your mattress should support you for about eight years, so if you have the opportunity to spend a little extra on the model that fits your health needs and your sleeping style, then do so as a long-term investment.

If you would like to invest in a mattress without breaking the bank, then come to Mancini's Sleepworld today. We offer deals regularly and even allow customers to set personal finance plans to pay for their purchases. Call (800) 641-5337 to find your nearest Northern California location.

Choosing a Mattress that Eases Lower Back Pain

Pure Beauty

If you suffer from chronic back pain, then one of the biggest favors that you can do for yourself is to purchase a mattress that will reduce discomfort and leave you feeling happier and healthier each morning. With so many different options to choose from at your San Francisco mattress store, however, it can be tough to know which one is the right fit for your needs. Here is a guide to choosing a mattress that eases lower back pain:

Look for Medium-Firm Models

When you head into your San Francisco mattress store to look for a new mattress that will ease your back pain, ask the friendly staff to direct you towards their medium-firm or moderately firm models. Recent research has shown that contrary to what many assumed about firm beds and their appropriateness for lower back pain sufferers, medium-firm is actually the perfect density to ease back pain.

Stay Away from Soft Varieties

While you may be tempted to try out a softer mattress that just begs you to sink right into it, soft mattress types are less-than-ideal for back pain sufferers. This is because they fail to support the many pressure points of the body and instead end up placing more strain on sensitive areas like the lumbar region. If you have a soft bed, consider placing a firm mattress pad on it until you can purchase a medium-firm model.

Choose a Style Your Partner Will Also Like

Today, it's easier than ever before to find a mattress that both you and your partner can enjoy. If you are the only person in the relationship who suffers from lower back pain and therefore requires a medium-firm mattress, then inquire about adjustable beds that allow both sleepers to adjust the mattress to their unique needs and sleep style.

If you could use a helping hand while selecting a new mattress, then come visit Mancini's Sleepworld. We have the largest selection of mattresses, which means you're sure to find one that will reduce your chronic back pain. Learn more about our selection by calling (800) 641-5337.

A Look at the Benefits of Tempur-Pedic Adjustable Beds

One of the most buzzed-about mattresses of the last couple years is the Tempur-Pedic adjustable bed, which allows sleepers to alter the bed's position based on his or her needs and preferences. The Tempur-Pedic adjustable beds, which come in a variety of sizes and textures, are the perfect solution for couples who enjoy different sleep styles as well as individuals who suffer from back pain or other ailments. The beds accommodate a variety of positions, giving owners the option of sleeping, working, and relaxing with just a simple click of the remote control.

Another feature that owners of Tempur-Pedic adjustable beds can't rave enough about is that they offer a massage feature. To check this feature out and to learn more about the beds, watch this informative video.

If you're interested in discovering how a new Tempur-Pedic bed could improve your life, visit Mancini's Sleepworld today. To learn more about the mattress brands we carry, visit us online or call (800) 641-5337.

Buying a Mattress that Complements Your Sleep Style

Night

With approximately a third of our lives being devoted to sleep, having an optimal mattress is truly a necessity. There are a number of factors that go into purchasing a mattress, from type and brand of mattress to budget. It’s also important to take into consideration your sleep style, which plays a vital role in selecting the ideal mattress for you. Check out this handy guide to find a mattress that complements your sleep style.

Sleeping on Your Side

Side sleeping is the most common sleep style. If the majority of your rest falls into this category, then it is critical you find a mattress that is slightly softer, alleviating any pressure placed on the hips or shoulders. A softer mattress also helps to keep the spine in alignment by allowing your body to sink into the softness.

Sleeping on Your Stomach

Stomach sleepers should use a mattress that is stiffer and firmer to help keep the body even. If the mattress is too soft, individuals who sleep on their stomachs may end up arching their backs, resulting in back pain.

Sleeping on Your Back

For back sleepers, a medium-firm mattress that provides lower back support is an ideal option. A mattress that is too firm will create spine alignment problems by pressing against the back, and a mattress that is too soft will not provide enough support for the back.

Sleeping Combination

If you sleep in a combination of all three styles, then opt for an innerspring or memory foam mattress that can accommodate your frequent movement. This will provide the right amount of support as you shift from side to stomach to back throughout the night.

Understanding What Sets Simmons Mattresses Apart

Simmons

With the vast array of mattresses on the market, shopping for a new bed can be both exciting and overwhelming. But amongst all the brands and assorted styles, how do you differentiate one mattress from the next? Begin your mattress search with Simmons, a brand that has stood the test of time. Read on to learn about the three key factors that set Simmons mattresses apart from other brands.

History

Simmons has a longstanding history of providing sleep solutions for people for well over a century. In addition, Simmons has been a pioneer in the bedding industry and was even the first mattress company to introduce the king and queen size mattresses. Simmons also invented the hideaway bed and the electric blanket, other widely used bedding options that have increased sleep comfort for years. With advances in sleep technology, from pocketed coil springs to the use of cooling memory foam, Simmons has been at the forefront of bedding innovation for over 140 years.

Design

Perhaps the most iconic Simmons mattress is the Beautyrest, which comes in a variety of models all featuring state-of-the-art designs. From cool gel memory foam to help regulate body temperature, a key factor in restful sleep, to smart response technology, which adapts to the body’s movements during sleep, the Beautyrest caters to all sleep styles. One of the newest models, the new no-flip Beautyrest, eliminates the necessity of having to flip or rotate your mattress every so often.

Comfort

Simmons is committed to enhancing sleep for all of its customers and tests its products to ensure they are optimally designed for comfort. One particular study found that on average, Simmons mattress users experienced increased REM sleep, which is vital for cognitive function, and less time lying awake, to yield a more restful night’s sleep.

For answers to all of your Simmons mattress questions, or for more information about our expansive selection of mattresses and furniture, please call Mancini’s Sleepworld at (800) 641-5337. How iComfort Changed Memory Foam Mattresses

The iComfort Sleep System by Serta is a revolutionary mattress that uses gel memory foam. Unlike traditional memory foam mattresses that are unable to help regulate temperature, the cool gel beads pull heat away from the body while you sleep, allowing you to rest comfortably and sleep soundly throughout the night. Check out this video to learn more about the benefits of the iComfort Sleep System.

Basic Mattress Vocabulary

Modern bed in a bedroom

Are you planning to replace your mattress in the near future?  Ensure that you go home with the most optimal mattress for your sleeping needs by familiarizing yourself with this vital mattress vocabulary:

Foundation:  A good foundation, or box springs, is an essential component of a mattress. Absorbing a lot of nightly wear and tear, it is important to purchase new box springs when buying a new mattress.

Adjustable beds:  Adjustable beds are electronic beds that allow you to adjust the head and foot of the mattress for optimal comfort.

Innerspring:  An innerspring mattress is the most commonly purchased type of mattress and contains built-in coil springs.

Airbeds:  Unlike the steel coils of an innerspring, airbeds offer an air-filled core to suit a variety of sleeping needs.

Memory foam:  Memory foam is five times denser than typical foam and can easily conform to any shape and then quickly return to its original form.

How Mattresses Have Evolved Over Time

mattresses

Mattresses are among the many luxuries that people tend to take for granted in today’s hectic and bustling society. However, our favorite sleeping spots are much more accommodating than those our ancestors slept on. Keep reading to find out how mattresses have evolved over time.

Neolithic Period - Renaissance

The earliest known version of a mattress dates back 10,000 years, to the Neolithic period. These original beds were very primitive, and it was not until 3400 BC that Egyptians started sleeping on raised platforms. At this point, however, commoners still slept on heaps of palm bows. The Roman Empire saw the earliest luxury beds, which were composed of hay, wool, feathers, or reeds, and were typically decorated in gold or silver. During the Renaissance, mattresses were made of silks and velvets filled with straw, pea shucks, and feathers.

16th Century – 19th Century

Louis XIV was a lounging enthusiast and was said to have owned 413 beds; he particularly enjoyed the larger, flashier mattresses. Unfortunately these types of beds attracted a variety of bugs, which is a problem that was not solved until the 18th century. Cotton mattresses were introduced at this time, which did not attract bugs. Mattresses started to resemble modern beds in 1865 when coil springs were patented.

20th Century - Today

Mattresses continued their evolution in the 1930s when upholstery and innerspring mattresses gained popularity, paving the way for futons in the 1940s. The 1950s saw pillows and mattresses made of foam rubber, and the waterbed caught on during the following decade. Adjustable beds also began to enjoy popularity in the 1960s. After the 1980s brought the airbed, the 1990s became the decade of the queen-sized mattress. From the early 2000s on, mattresses have exploded in customization, design, and comfort.

To find out just how far mattresses have come, visit one of the many Mancini’s Sleepworld locations in northern California. We are happy to supply the area with adjustable mattresses as well as gel memory foam and the iComfort Sleep System. How Poor Sleep Quality Affects Teenagers

Teenage years can be confusing and stressful, and quality of sleep could be an important factor. Watch this video to find out how poor sleep quality affects teenagers.

Teenagers who get five or less hours of sleep per night tend to be substantially more likely to report symptoms of depression and thoughts of suicide. Additionally, teens were more likely to report these same symptoms if they regularly went to sleep after midnight as opposed to teens that went to sleep earlier. Sleep deprivation can not only affect teenagers’ mental health, but also their physical health and immune systems.

If your teenager is not getting high-quality sleep, it may be time for a new mattress. Mancini’s Sleepworld provides comfortable mattresses in the Northern California area. To find out more about our gel memory foam and Serta mattresses, please do not hesitate to visit our website. You can also call us at (800) 641-5337.

What You Need to Know Before You Begin Mattress Shopping

Couple Examining Mattress With Salesman

When you buy a new mattress, you may be spending anywhere from several hundred to several thousand dollars. If it is almost time to start your search, keep reading to find out what you need to know before you begin mattress shopping.

Make Sure You Need a New Mattress

While mattresses tend to last about five to seven years, there is still some wiggle room in that window. Before you go out and buy a new mattress, make sure it is actually necessary. If you do a significant amount of travelling, your home mattress may be able to last a few more years; this is also true if you own a particularly high quality mattress. However, if you do not sleep as well as you used to or you find that you get better sleep elsewhere, the time to look for a new mattress will come much sooner.

Do Your Research

From foam to airbeds to adjustable mattresses, there are plenty of different options. This variety is great, but it can also seem overwhelming. It is important to learn about the different types of mattresses before making a decision so that you can get a feel for the advantages of each. For example, waterbeds are comfortable and can be easily cleaned, but they are difficult to move. Foam mattresses are very durable, but certain climates can take away their firm feeling.

Try Before You Buy

Although it may feel somewhat awkward to try out mattresses in public, it is a necessary part of the shopping experience. Try to put aside your inhibitions and give each mattress an honest try. You will be spending a great deal of time with the mattress that you ultimately choose, so make sure you are positive that it is the perfect one for you.

When you are ready to begin mattress shopping, contact Mancini’s Sleepworld. We are proud to serve the northern California area out of 31 locations. If you would like to find out about our extensive supply of memory foam and Serta mattresses, feel free to give us a call at (800) 641-5337. Caring for a Sleepworld Designs Bronze Cushion Firm Mattress

Sleepworld Designs Bronze Cushion Firm Mattress

With 390 innerspring coils and 3/8” of foam, the Sleepworld Designs Bronze Cushion Firm is a quality mattress that provides a comfortable and supportive sleeping surface. Keep reading to find out how to care for this mattress to extend its life:

Get a New Boxspring

Although you probably will not feel it as much as you feel when your mattress is old, boxsprings eventually start to lose their strength and might not provide the support you need. Enhance the appeal of your mattress by updating your boxspring so you have the perfect foundation for your new sleeping surface.

Rotate the Mattress

New mattresses often get body impressions when you start sleeping on them regularly. Reduce the risk for these impressions by rotating the mattress about 2-4 weeks after you first buy it. This will help you spread out the wear and tear and maintain the integrity of the sleeping surface. You should continue to rotate the mattress a few times a year to prevent one section from getting more worn than another section.

Prevent Stains

Since you do not regularly look at the surface of the mattress, there could be stains of which you are not aware. Prevent these stains from even happening with a quality mattress cover can keep your mattress safe from stains, spills, allergens, and even bodily fluids that ruin the aesthetic appeal and the value of the mattress beneath. When you strip the bed, spot check the mattress to see if there are any stains that need some extra attention.

Dream

You know that you feel great after a good night of sleep, but do you know why? Keep reading to find out just how much the time on your mattress can improve the hours of your waking life:

Better Memory Retention

The brain uses the sleeping hours as time to recharge. If you are able to get a full night of restful sleep, the mind has the opportunity to make memories stronger and even practice skills that you learned during the day. If you want to memorize a list of definitions before a big test or pick up a new talent, it is imperative to get plenty of sleep to let your brain function at its best.

Improved Overall Health

Inflammation is one of the leading factors of serious diseases like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, and even early aging. How the Beautyrest Recharge Offers the Ultimate in Support and Comfort

Beautyrest Recharge

Your mattress is by far the most important furniture item in your home. Think about it—what other piece of furniture do you use for eight hours every day? To ensure that your joints are properly supported and you can rest comfortably each night, you should carefully consider which mattress you will sleep on for the next seven to ten years. Once you get to the mattress store, you’ll find the Beautyrest Recharge mattresses to be serious contenders.

Pocketed Coil

Part of what makes the Beautyrest Recharge mattresses so comfortable is the Pocketed Coil Unit. The 800 density coils allow Recharge mattresses to have just the right amount of give; not too firm and not too soft. Goldilocks would absolutely love these mattresses.

AirCool

The summer is fast approaching, which means Northern California is in for plenty of hot, balmy nights. Another key aspect of Beautyrest Recharge mattresses is the AirCool foam, which promotes airflow through the mattress. Thanks to the AirCool foam, you can turn down the air conditioner at night without being uncomfortably hot. Some Recharge mattresses come with AirCool Memory Foam, which provides ample air flow while adjusting to the contours of your body.

Gel Foam

Finally, the specially formulated GelTouch foam serves as the Beautyrest Recharge pièce de résistance. This plush layer of foam offers additional comfort that helps evenly distribute the pressure your body places on your mattress. It’s important for your body to be properly aligned as you sleep—that way, you’re more likely to avoid low back pain, neck pain, or knee pain. GelTouch and the other Recharge features can provide ample support and help you get a good night’s sleep every night.

Mancini’s Sleepworld has several Beautyrest Recharge mattresses for you and your partner to try. Come by any of our 31 Northern California locations to speak with a representative, and call (800) 641-5337 with any preliminary questions.
